What does "interdisciplinary studies major" mean?

It means that when I want to write a story set in an imaginary place, and I want there to be mountains, I end up on a climatology website studying how mountains affect weather and climate, and then consider how these weather patterns would change the affective personality of my characters, their conception of social norms in clothing, behavior, and attitude, and how these personal traits might be expressed in the context of power relationships.*

Bonus stolen from a friend: It means I majored in critical thinking.

*This is not an exaggeration. This is what I am doing right now. Would you like to know more about the weather? Here is some information from NASA.
